In January of 2024, the Article of the Month dealt with Psalm 83 -- involving Israel's immediate neighbors and with one distant country (Iran), all of whom would have to come to a point where they no longer threaten Israel's peace. (Please review that article.)

 

The war which broke out in late February of this year, when Israel and the United States jointly attacked Iran, may well be the beginning of the removal of Iran as a threat to Israel's safety. Concurrently, it may also serve to stop the Iran-sponsored terrorist groups (like the Shia Islamic groups of Hamas and Hezbollah) which have infiltrated Israel's direct neighbors. The suppression of the combination of Iran and its sponsored Israeli "neighbors" may fulfill all of the requirements of Psalm 83 -- and thus place

Israel in the "at rest" condition prophesied in the beginning of Ezekiel 38, which describes earth's final battle which will free humanity from its distresses..

In other words, we may now be witnessing one of the major fulfillments of prophecy needed to bring the time when God will intervene in earth's affairs and say "BE STILL! And know that I am God! I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth." (Psalm 46:10) That will be a day of great rejoicing when the realization hits mankind that its struggles have ended. "The whole earth is at rest and is quiet. They break forth into singing!" (Isaiah 14:7)

But it will be a little while yet before that happens. Our God has yet to accomplish the primary destructive events which will weaken the way we humans do things. He's very much letting us do His work for Him! Humanity is losing control of itself and of whatever standards it might have had. Our institutions must crumble; and He must have our undivided attention. The coming events will accomplish this. We're well on our way!

But our focus is on what follows: PEACE! And it is likely that most people -- eventhough they WISH FOR IT -- have lost most hope that it will ever be attained. However, the clear evidences of the fulfillments of prophecy in our day should help believers to sustain our hopes -- even our CONFIDENCE -- that our grandest dreams will be fulfilled. The general population of earth has no interest in what God may be doing. They might not even have any confidence that He exists. So this is not the time to look for their gaining any faith. It is the time for them to LOSE any faith they might have in ANYTHING. Then God will be able to deal with them. The long-repeated prayer will soon find its visible answer: "Thy Kingdom come; Thy will be done IN EARTH as it is in heaven." (Matthew 6:10) Happy watching!
